IOBION INFORMATICS AND AFFYMETRIX SIGN CO-MARKETING
AGREEMENT TO PROMOTE ARRAYASSIST TM SOFTWARE FOR GENECHIP®
MICROARRAY DATA ANALYSIS
ArrayAssist further extends the Affymetrix
platform with its extreme ease of use and strong data analysis
features.
La Jolla, Calif. - January 6, 2003 - Iobion Informatics announced
today that ArrayAssist has been designated an Affymetrix Premier
Application. The Premier Application rating is part of a new
Affymetrix Provider program that recognizes software tools
that extend and enhance the Affymetrix platform and provide
exceptional value to the life sciences community.
ArrayAssist is a desktop application for
the analysis of Affymetrix GeneChip® microarray data designed
specifically for the research biologist. "We have worked
hard to build a powerful analysis tool using the latest probe-level
algorithms and tightly integrated with the Affymetrix platform."
said Jason Goncalves, Chief Scientific Officer, Iobion Informatics.
"However, extreme ease of use is what really sets ArrayAssist
apart from other microarray analysis tools."
"Iobion's ArrayAssist software
is among the first software packages to receive the Affymetrix
Premier Application rating," said Scott Jokerst, Senior
Product Marketing Manager at Affymetrix. "We found that
ArrayAssist was exceptionally easy to use, integrated seamlessly
with the Affymetrix platform, and offered strong analytic
capabilities that were accessible to biologists. We believe
Iobion's software will enable life scientists to make better
decisions with their GeneChip microarray data."
ArrayAssist, part of the IobionLab™ suite, is sold and
distributed by Stratagene.

IOBION ANNOUNCES AMDeC's ADOPTION OF GENETRAFFIC
SOFTWARE PLATFORM
La Jolla, CA, October 3, 2002 - Iobion
Informatics announced today that AMDeC Foundation, Inc., a
consortium of thirty-nine of New York's world-renowned medical
schools, academic health centers, and other research institutions,
has adopted GeneTraffic. This deal enables AMDeC affiliated
researchers to analyze and share data across institutions,
ultimately leading to larger collaborative projects and standardized
research protocols.
Iobion's GeneTraffic software stores raw
microarray data files, which includes numerical and image
files, provides built-in data management, and facilitates
data validation and analysis. AMDeC's microarray resource
center, run by Dr. Andrew Brooks of the University of Rochester,
will use GeneTraffic Multi as their platform of choice for
its combined capability of handling microarray data from Affymetrix®
GeneChip® and spotted array experiments.
"While it was Iobion's implementation
of a 'Start to Finish' microarray data management and analysis
capability in GeneTraffic that first received notice by AMDeC-affiliated
investigators," stated Dr. Brooks, "it was Iobion's
ability to deliver on-time the GeneTraffic Multi software
product, incorporating leading-edge data analysis approaches
within a multi-user graphical user interface, that really
impressed the thought-leaders at AMDeC."
"This deal represents another significant
milestone in AMDeC's efforts to ensure that New York's scientists
have affordable access to today's cutting-edge research technologies,
and is a critical step in our efforts to position New York
to lead the nation in the new genomic era," said Maria
K. Mitchell, Ph.D., president of AMDeC.
"With the breadth of functionality
in a single software package, installing from a single CD,
scientists can load, store, investigate, visualize and analyze
their data from any computer on their Local Area Network,"
comments Stephen Sharp, Director of Marketing Iobion Informatics.
"This architectural design facilitates the installation
and use of the software in research laboratories, yielding
a high return on investment (ROI)."
About AMDeC
AMDeC was developed by leaders in New York's medical and scientific
community to establish New York as the international center
for biomedical research and technology over the next decade.
Through AMDeC, its thirty-nine affiliated institutions are
working collaboratively to develop large-scale basic science
and clinical research projects, expand New York's research
infrastructure, recruit talented researchers to New York's
scientific institutions, further develop New York's biotechnology
sector, and pursue research-related business opportunities.
This deal with Iobion represents one of the business arrangements
AMDeC has negotiated on behalf of its member institutions
that will help foster research collaborations and produce
more cost-effective and far-reaching research in New York.

CANVAC Gene Expression Database
A daunting task for many researchers starting
microarray experiments is the storage and analysis of the
vast amounts of data that can be rapidly acquired. In 2001,
the CANVAC
(Canadian Network for Vaccines and Therapeutics) microarray
core facility has worked closely to implement Iobion Informatics'
GeneTraffic software
to develop a centralized data storage and analysis server
that provides secure nationwide access to experimental data.
Through the relational database in GeneTraffic, users easily
control data access and permissions. Coupled with the database
are robust tools for visualization and analysis of shared
data.
CANVAC is a national effort with multiple
centres nationwide. By implementing a dedicated Iobion Informatics'
GeneTraffic Bioinformatics Server, CANVAC researchers from
across the country have access to a central data storage site
as well as powerful data analysis software. Users will be
able to confidentially and securely access their data, perform
data analysis, and even share data with other CANVAC members
allowing potential collaborators to review each other's data
from across the country.
